During Lockdown I began to put pen to paper to help gain clarity in this season. Below I have written a poem about the gift of 'Time' which we gained and were given, beyond our own circumstances or will. With this poem I have also begun to paint a new Collection called 'Pillars' which signifies the ‘Pillars’ in society that become the cornerstone of our lives, until these things are taken from us. We then look to the ‘Pillars’ in our own life that are left standing, which we hold onto to rebuild our new life from.

When we had time to let the sunrise wake us up and let the rhythms of life be defined by the sunset.
We had time to let play guide our children’s education, and the treasure of learning to be found in our simple everyday life.
We had time to walk our streets and count the bears, to get to know our community.
We had time to listen to our children, hear their heart and respond to their needs in new ways.
We had time for laughter, knowing that joy was the greatest glue that would keep us together.
We had time to cook from scratch, to go back to basics and learn the art of hospitality in our homes.
We had time to sit around the table, to be thankful and to savour every moment.
We had time to discover and to re-ignite creativity for ourselves.
We had time to let others have a platform, to see them rise to their strengths and be positioned for all to see.
We had time to mourn and grieve what was, realising the previous season was the greatest preparation for what is to come.
We had time to cheer each other on, to dream with those who had lost hope and believe in their greatest days ahead.
We had time to not let the sun go down on our anger, to acknowledge our rights and wrongs and to show love and forgiveness.
We had time to look up to our Creator, Father and way-maker. To ask for peace and strength, for what was before us was like nothing before.
We had time to let that still small voice help gather our thoughts and still our beating heart, as we lay our weary heads.
Time has been our greatest gift.
May we always remember these moments of connection, may we never lose sight of the mundane rhythms, knowing we live an extraordinary life worth celebrating and worth remembering.
